Britt McColl, communications and editorial strategy leader.

How I got here

I started in public relations, building real, trust-based relationships with reporters and landing the coverage that shapes reputation. Over the next two decades, I grew the other half of the discipline: the owned and editorial side. Content strategy, newsletters, executive voice, the systems that let an organization tell its own story as powerfully as the press tells it. That combination, earned credibility paired with editorial strategy, is the through-line of everything I do.

What I do best is make complexity clear. I map a core narrative to different audiences and across channels, clarify who owns what, and turn ambiguity into direction a team can act on. I work in early and collaboratively, alongside strategists, creatives, subject-matter experts, and executives, because the biggest moments never succeed on one great idea. They succeed on alignment.

I care about clarity, consistency, and follow-through, and I mentor the communicators around me as I go. Whatever the audience, customers, employees, reporters, or leadership, the principle holds: people need a reason to care, and my job is to give them one. That is where I find clarity within complexity, and it is the work I enjoy most.

β€œShe excels at mapping a core narrative to different audiences and across a range of channels. She makes sense out of fragmentation, clarifies roles throughout the organization, and executes at a very high level. Her domain expertise in PR means her editorial skills are top-notch.”
